Paph. helenae (two clones)
These two were sold as Paph.helenae var.delicatulum... obviously European nurseries have some issues when IDing some plants... Note: my other Paph helenae, bought also as as var delicatulum, was also not the mentioned variety!
from both clones I like the right one the most...nicer shape, wider Dorsal, and better color... http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4152/...440540357c.jpgPaphiopedilum helenae by kavanaru, on Flickr |
Very nice :) I wish someone in the US was selling these, I love miniatures and slippers.... helenae fits the bill :)
I worked at Antec over the summer, wish they were still in business... |
Thanks Tim, thanks for teh comment! :)
The problem in the USA is that Paph. helenae still has the "Illegal" status. However, I think that some growers has now some "legal" plants... you would need to contact the paph nurseries around.. |
Ramon, what is the difference between var delicatum and the regular helenae?
I was finally able to acquire a helenae last spring. I've seen them around but only one supplier was actually selling them. |
Really nice.
I don't know what the var delicatum looks like so can't comment on the variety, but I take it from your comment that it's not like this. Anyway yours are gorgeous. |
Here you can see pictures of Paphiopedilum helenae forma delicatum
European Orchids (Rare Paph.) - Все о комнатных растениях на flowersweb.info this variety has been described, if I recall it correctly, by Olaf Gruss (right now not 100% sure about Olaf being the author of the description, I must admit) |
Pretty, I can see why you have been trying to get hold of one!
|
Oh that is pretty! I can see why you want one. It's much pinker than the regular helenae.
