New England 'Must See Orchid Locations'

All,

Driving this weekend from Wilmington, NC to Groton, CT. Interested to know of any 'Must See Orchid Locations' along the I-95 corridor or in CT, RI or Mass.

Thanks for any info.

Charlie

Hmmm. Were you thinking of wild orchids or collections? The wild orchids are past here in New England (I'm in Massachusetts).
I've always wanted to visit Longwood Gardens, outside of Philadelphia. That may not be on your way.
Welcome to New England anyways.:hello

I agree with Connie, Longwood is worth a pit stop! I've never been there, but I'm trying to fix that ;)

Well, in NC Raleigh Orchids would be a simple stop. And then there's Chadwick & Sons in Richmond, VA and Stony Brook Orchids up in New Jersey. If I went anywhere it'd have to be J&L Orchids (I have been there) Beautiful place, and it smelled amazing when I was there, might have been the blooming season, i dunno. The whole place is covered in wounted and hanging plants, which is a refreshing sight compared to bench after bench of terrestrials

Haven't had much luck with my purchases though :( I think I have humidity problem. I suppose it would depend on your orchid preference though, if miniatures and cool growers catch your fancy, then J&L is the place :)

Thanks so far for the info. Have those plus Waldor Orchids (NJ) on my list.

J & L spoke at our Orchid Society a few months back and I too have low humidity in my house in winter so hard to grow there mounts and miniatures.

Waldor Orchids were here last month - big Catts !

Any one else ??

Charlie
