Dendrochilum magnum questions
 

Just bought this. LOVE the scent. Just keep walking by and smelling it. Does anyone have any clues to keep it healthy and get it to rebloom? Do I need to worry about the leaf in the second picture?

Intermediate to warm (55 F to 95 F).

Moderately bright to bright indirect as per Oncidiums.

Grows as an epiphyte.

Evenly moist, not soggy.

Moderate humidity.

If the leaf hasn't been giving you problems, then you shouldn't have to worry.

and... be aware they are not fond of repotting, so time it right and be gentle when you do.

Thanks so much for the info. Is there a specific medium to use when repotting. All I have readily available is Miracle Grow Orchid mix. I can order online of course if I should. When is the "right" time to repot?

I use bark with my dens and they are doing well but you see them in lova rock a lot (my thoughts are it is harsh on the roots) i repot durring root growth.

Medium grade bark works.

Dendrochilums are more closely related to Coelogyne.

Some Dendrobiums are lithophytes. Case in point are a couple of very popular Australian Dens - Den kingianum and Den speciosum.
