Phal growing regimen
All of my new phal seedlings that I separated into 4 plants in March, are now all growing roots like crazy and pretty fast....
When would I expect to see new leaves start to grow? Or, if anyone can direct me to any articles on orchid growing patterns, I'd appreciate it. I am using natural lighting right now and growing in bark mix. Thanks! |
Orchidweb has good general culture information on most plants. I like going there to look up culture information all the time
Here's culture information for a Phal. bellina Orchid of the Week Library: Phal. bellina I think the care for most other phals are generally the same. For smaller phals like javanica, appendiculatta and lobbii it may be a bit different. |
Roots are a good sign. Leaves shortly to follow. Some of my Phals take a long time from the time I notice new root growth to the time they decide to put on new leaves.

I agree, leaves will come very soon as the warmth and light increases. A flush of roots are the first sign of new growth :)

Summer is coming and so will the leaves and many spikes :)

Great! Can't wait to see my little seedlings grow some new leaves...funny - 2 of my seedlings are growing new arieal roots and the other 2 are not, unless they are doing something underneath the bark. In the same grouping at the same window..hummm....all different size pots....the smallest and largest pot are getting the roots. (I've heard they like smallest pots, but I didn't have any at the time of potting, so I used what I had on hand, but obviously didn't make a difference)
