Inexpensive Shelving, Lights
3 Attachment(s)
I've set up a couple of sets of Lowes/Home Depot type steel shelving units with T5 strip lights linked together, and aluminum foil for reflectors.
First photo shows the overall set-up of one 24" wide, 12" deep unit. In the background is our deck; the ropes are for squirrel and bear proof bird feeders that my tree surgeon hubby rigged up. There are also some orchids under an umbrella. The second photo shows the underside of the shelf with the lights. There are 3 Sunblaze strip lights which you can link together so you only have to use one cord to plug in. I have them on a timer, along with an ultrasonic humidifier, and this is now where I am very successfully growing Masdies. The third photo is the drip tray I got from Tindaras. I'll post more pictures when I get done bringing my chids in and setting it up for the winter. |
looks like what i have, except for mine is bigger. :) mine is on a ceiling height shelf that is 4 ft wide. i need to get drip trays though. our set up looks good :)

Thank you for posting this.
My collection has outgrown the south facing windowsills so this is just what I need for this winter. Maureen |

nice work there connie :) I like Homemade stuff...
most of my homemade projects seems to incorporate some kind of danger in them for them to actually work |
Connie I bought the same shelf just a couple of months ago to grow my phals on. I haven't gotten a humidity tray for it yet and yours looks like it fits perfectly on it. What size and where did you get yours if you don't mind me asking? Thanks!
