Cattleya Saviour or Intermedia 'Aquinni'
 

Is anybody familiar with this plant, is it a species?

Probably C. Suaviour (mendelii x intermedia) which is in the background of a number of splash petal hybrids. It is the parent of Lc. Aqui-Finn (x Lc. Irene Finney), Lc. Excellency (x Lc. Lustre), 'Orchidglade' being a famous clone, C. Gene May (x aclandiae), C. Milton Warne (x Hybrida), C. Okami (x warcewiczii), C. Sedlescombe (x C. Annette) (which bred C. Moscombe (x Mosnor), which was used extensively in Taiwan to breed large splash petal hybrids such as Lc. Chan Hsiu Jewel (x Lc. Waynadora), Lc. Chiu-Jye CHen (x Lc. Bonanza), Lc. White Spark (x Lc. Shellie Compton), Blc. Chinese Beauty (x Blc. Sunset Bay), Blc. Dora Louise Capen (x Blc. Toshie Aoki), Blc. Hwa Yuan Grace (x Blc. Mem. Helen Brown), Blc. Taiwan Queen (x Blc. George Angus), Blc. Village Chief Leer (x Blc Waikiki Gold))

Hybrid and it is correctly Cattleya Suavior 'Aquinni' a notable splash petal hybrid and parent of many other splash-petal hybrids.

Thanks very much for the response, I checked the tag and it is marked c. suavior 'Aquinni'. I just never thought it was the right name and never found a reference for it. Thanks again as its a great plant and a reliable flowerer. cheers Dave
