Paph. helenae

This is about the cutest miniature Paph. you'll ever see. The flower is just a little smaller than my thumb. I bought it last March at the Rogue Valley Orchid Society show.

I love this little guy! I've been looking for it everywhere, but I haven't seen anybody with it in the U.S. Beautiful bloom  congrats!

That is a superb helenae, congratulations! How do you grow yours? I had two but lost one of them.

What temps?

quiltergal 09-20-2010 01:20 AM

I grow it like most of the rest of my Paphs. Intermediate temps and under T5 lights. It seems to be a little more sensitive to drying out that some of my others. Other that keeping an eye on the relative dryness I don't really do anything special for it.

I can ask my source if she has any more. If she does I'll PM you.

Thanks but I doubt she can ship them to Australia. I think I will be able to get a flask soon, well hopefully. I have read that in the wild their minimum in winter is 48F on average which is fairly cool growing. So maybe intermediate will ensure I don't get anymore crown rot.

Thanks for the information.

Very nice! This species is becoming rare in the wild and all of the plants available for sale have to be regulated and propagated from greenhouse plants... that's why they are hard to find!

Really is a cutie isn't it!
