I really like it! I love the colour and the name. The shape of the dorsal sepal is really appealing to me. Thanks for sharing.

It was a quite suprise for me to see it bloom, because it was weak when I bought it. |
WOW, that's beautiful! Are Masdevalia's hard to grow? I've had my eye on one but read that they are harder to grow than what I believe my experience level currently is. Newbie here, lol...

hm... not easy, but not hard...
You should start with a hybrid and see if you can manage it :) They need a cool to cold enviroment... here on the forum are great tips how to grow them, the most usefull for me was this: http://www.orchidboard.com/community...devallias.html |
Really Gorgeous Xristie!
Paul, they are not easy because their requirements are generally outside your standard house conditions, but they are not difficult if you can give them what they need. Most need cool temps and high humidity but there are some exceptions especially amoungst the hybrids. They can also be picky about water quality, I'm lucky we have high quality tap water here but I've still set up a rain water barrel so I can use that for my couple of Masdies. |
REALLY NICE!!!!

...the plant bloomed for 4 weeks and now it is getting another spike... !!!
I am realy happy, the plant itself has only 8 leafes, and the first and also the second spike comes from remains of a cane of a dead dropped leaf. The temperatures here are dropping to 2-3 Celsius at night and the plant is always moist. |
That's really cool Xristie!
