Just opened last night

Very nice! It's hard to see with the deep blue sky how green the tips of the flower are. Are they very green? I've always been drawn to those Norton crosses with the green against the blue.

I chose the blue sky b/c I feel it is quite humorous how people call orchids "blue" (and this is suppose to be VERY blue) when they are really kinda purple-blue. If is were really blue...well you see my point :P |
Very pretty! :)
Mine has been in continous bloom since I purchased it over the summer. The scent is addictive. |
Wonderful! We had some of these at Klehm's when I worked there. Rob Greisbach had a really deeply colored violacea that he had purchased from Ooi Leng Sun Orchids in Malaysia. It was called 'Purple Martin' JC/AOS. He sent us a few plates of selfings that we raised up. Got some wonderful deep colored ones with great form, and then several "blue" ones appeared in the mix. I never followed up with him or Michael Ooi to see what the source of 'Purple Martin' had been... I wonder if it was a really nice "red" violacea crossed with one of the very pale "blue" forms that he had been growing for several generations.
Anyhow, these are fabulous. Love the photo against the blue sky - quite a contrarian statement! |

Here are some updates for this beauty.
Color has become somewhat more intense and I used a black background to "showcase" the amazing color. One shot is with flash and the other without. Enjoy! |
