totally off topic- job interview...

Hi friends! Well, I have worked for the last two years at the university in the town we live in for a certain department, which I have enjoyed, but I would really like to work 3/4 time instead of full time. I have approached my boss, but he is unable to allow that right now, so I am exploring my options.

One option of which I have applied invited me for an interview on Tues at 2pm. My question is, should I dress the part (skirt/nice blouse/sandles), or just dress my current office dress (capris, blouse, sandles)? I'm not certain as to the formality of this office that is interviewing me, so I can't make any assumptions that its like my current office. Not to mention that I can't "overdress" in my office because they may get suspicious.

On a side note, the new position already checked two of my references that I know of, so they've already done their homework before inviting me to interview. Seems weird to check references before they are serious about you, but I guess it saves them some wasted time interviewing someone who they looks good on paper but is really all fluff.

Anyway, would love to hear your thoughts ;)

I think it might be best to dress for the interview - maybe leave yourself time to change between work and the interview -
OR wear something to work that is easy to 'dress-up' with (yikes!) pantyhose, heels ...
You can throw on the hose, change shoes - maybe change your capris for a skirt quickly in-between work and interview ?

I agree with WhiteRabbit.

It's always best to dress well for an interview. Even if you end up wearing the same thing you do now when you actually get the job it looks better to the interviewer to look like you've made an effort.

My office is fairly informal in dress, but we would still expect men coming for interview to be in a suit and women to be in smart blowse and skirt. Even when the office they will be working in is far more casual.

I also agree about perhaps taking a skirt you can change into, as you don't want to look out of place in your current office.

I also agree. Good Luck Becky Jo
