This is a my first Paphiopedilum in about 3-4 years. I bought it from Trader Joes about 3 days ago. I used to have one P. Vanda M. Pearman which only bloomed once for me and then died about a year later. Anyway, so I don't want to loose this one. Its got variegated leaves and white and green flower. Any ideas? Thanks

I have one that looks just like it.....I will check its tag for you!( as long as its still with the plant) :)

p.s. congrats on the purchase....good luck with growing it! :)

my tag reads- paph.(makuli-curtisii)maudiae x maudiae'napa valley' HCC/AOS x SIB.....im not exactly sure if yours is this exact cross but it gives u a starting point...plus im sure a better 'identifier person' lol will be able to help u more then me!just wantd to give u a lil somethin to go on.:)

Sorry to say, there are hundreds of Paph Maudiae hybrids out there that looks similar to yours, so probably there will not be a definite name for your plant. On the upside, you can call it whatever you want for your own purpose, AND they are the easiest paph to grow :) Good luck! :)

Nice plant! Great flower! I love the maudiaes... and not just because they are easy.

Best of luck in getting your new guy to grow.

As Jorch said, impossible to identify correctly a Maudiae type hybrid. 100s of different hybrids which look very similar to each other...

yours seems to have nice colors, but the flower seems also to be not fully open...

SpeciesNut 08-11-2010 02:06 PM

wow! i looked up these types of hybrids and theres like a ton! lol Id make up my own name :)

Tindomul 08-11-2010 03:39 PM

Thanks all! Species nut, at least I got the maudiae down, lol. Maybe I'll name her Maud. Kavanaru, you are right I took the picture as it was still opening. I think that by tonight, when I get home, the flower should be more open. Trader Joes was also selling another that had the same leaves but the flower was bigger and had dark colours. So I guess there is a bit of variety with maudiaes.

My imediate thought agrees with everyone elses, it's a Maudiae type hybrid. Whether it's the actual Maudiae hybrid or something with very similar parantage or something with Maudiae as a parent is probably impossible to know.

I love these, I have one just opening at the momment, not got quite as open as yours yet when looked last night... can't believe I forgot to take a peak at it this morning as it's my first ever Paph re-bloom!
