Well, its official:Neocogniauxia now is firmly in the Pleurothallid alliance.
With that in mind,I pesent my plant with 4 flowers this year.(every year 1 more)
Its not an easy plant, but I seem to do well with it.
I find that it has very short roots, hardly pennetrating the moos pad to the cork, and can endure higher summer temperatures than the Andean Pleurothallids.
I once had the other sp. ,N.hexaptera, and am again looking for it.
Enjoy!

It was considered a Catt. relative for a long time, but to date no hybrids with any Epidendroids.
It even appears in the series:Cattleyas and their relatives.!
Goes to show that evolutionarily, there are no genuses or families only individuals!

Well... technically, evolution is all about populations. But yes, the whole hierarchy of classification from species on up is a system we try to impose on the real world. The real world is not obligated to submit.

I wonder if those who rage against the molecular evidence on Laelia vs. Cattleya will be as quick to dismiss this.
