So I need to clip my cat...
 

The same cat draping all of her 15lbs across my arms right now...of course...

Anyways, after switching to good quality food and adding a little wet food and salmon oil, those 15lbs are sleek, soft, slim, and dander-free!

However, the poor girl is still just not as thorough in cleaning her pantaloons as her human companions would like her to be.
Not entirely her fault- she's longhaired, and her fur is longest around her cute little butt. And all down her back legs- pantaloons!
Not to mention, being the clumsy, uncoordinated kitty that she is, keeping them clean just isn't her favorite challenge.


So! Enter the devious, evil owner. :evil:
I have the equivalent of a "Furminator" that does a great job of pulling out her undercoat to keep her from shedding it around the house.
But if you own a dog or cat- you know how using that kind of brush around their bum can be.

I've paid the meager $6 to take her to Petsmart and get a sanitary clip- but in true kitty fashion, she yowled the entire trip (I got some interesting looks walking through the store to the salon), and sulked for two days.


So #2!!
I'm going to clip her myself. Scissors don't work, so I was planning on ordering some "pocket clippers" that don't cost an arm and a leg. I can't afford the $20-$30 for the standard ones, nor do I need something that big/fancy.

***Before I go and order those, I was wondering if anybody else had some ideas? Is there another tool that I can use to do a sanitary clip? I've seen some things at grocery stores that look like clipper attachments, only you use them by themselves...or maybe a hair thinner like they use at my salon...

My dog gets mats in her skirt long hair down the back end .. I use suture scissors to cut them off small and blunt don't know if they would work or not ..

Same! I use scissors made for babies/children where the ends are rounded instead of pointed on my persian cats! they don't like the noise from hoovers, trimmers etc..

So I need to clip my cat.....
 

Oh, those "pantaloons" in the Cat Fancy are also called "Breeches". It is like the ear hair is called "Ear Furnishings".
The only long-haired cat I had was a part Maine Coon who just hated to be groomed. Mostly my fault because I did not accustom him to it when he was a kitten. As he was an indoor-outdoor cat, he got into the burrs and they were impossible to get out. Try that with a 17 pound, all claws intact cat. :rofl
Can you kind of sneak up on the trimming when she is mellowed out and half asleep? Don't try to do it all at one time. I found that worked with my calico when I used to trim her claws. If she got antsy, I would quit for a few minutes, talk to her soothingly until she relaxed and then I could finish, usually.

I'll have to try scissors again, they just weren't as efficient as I'd like...


:D I do the "roll them up in a towel and SIT on them" method. She stays much calmer when strongly restrained.

That's part of why I clip my cat's nails- but more because I get tired of wincing and getting welts when ever they kneed me. Tough love!

Oh yes of course they have to come up with hoity-toity names. :rofl:
Utmost respect for Cat Fancy though.

This lady is part Maine Coon too- she has the famous "chirp" down pat!

I may have to try sneaking up and just doing a little bit at a time. :X Need to get out of my 'let's get 'er done!' attitude.

And alcohol. Beer and isopropyl. :lol:

I learned fast at the animal shelter that if I rubbed down with iso. alcohol immediately, all my scratches wouldn't get infected and angry.
