phalaenopsis name

Hi I found this orchid by itself in a shop and wondered if anybody knew what the name of it could be, it is very fragrant. Thanks to anyone that can help. Dave

It's very pretty but with no tag it is impossible to give it a name due to the thousands of hybrids.

Hi Thanks for the reply, i took this to a orchid society meeting and one person suggested it was a Phalaenopsis Vivaldi but can't find any info or pictures of this. Dave

Hi
I have had one of these phals for a couple of years now. The name on the label I got with mine is called Phalaenopsis. Brother Lancer. In the pic it shows it to be lighter in colour than yours but in person it is darker (its quite difficult to get the right lighting). I hope this helps. Jay |
Hi Jay Yours does look like mine and like you say the lighting is difficult to get right but the markings and colours are the same. Thank you for the name and your help, have done a search on this and seems there is a yellow form of this too. Is yours fragrant too mine is highly fragrant but not at night time
Thanks Dave |
Hi Dave
Yes, mine is fragrant during the day. I'm glad to be of some help. Jay |
Possibly Phal. Miva Smartissimo?
Looking through Taylors for something else came across a picture very similar to your orchid on p. 163. Labellum looks different though

Without a tag it is irresponsible to put a name on a plant like this - as someone has already noted, there are thousands of hybrids and many of them look alike, with endless variation even within a single hybrid. Mislabeled plants are a continued problem in the judging system and in hybridizing.
