Neofintia took forever
2 Attachment(s)
Finally after three years of just sitting there like a bump on a log , it decided to bloom! The blooms just opened this morning and so far there is no fragrance. I dont know what I did right. There was always plenty of root growth and it did put on new leaves, although slowly.
I kept it a tad bit drier this winter and put it outside as soon as temps warmed up in april. Gets lots of sun i the morning and it gets watered almost every day. Scott |
Congratulations.
I've got a regular Neo. like that too. Healthy plant, tons of root growth but no flowers. In it's own good time I guess. Cheers. Jim |
All things come to those who wait...And it appears to have been worth the wait! Good growing--I have one in bloom now and I can't smell anything until I pick it up and hold it close to me--then it's amazing!!
I can't tell if it is your camera or the light or if your neo has a tinge of yellow. The spurs look a different color. Is it just a plain neo? Do you know the name??:hmm |
Very healthy and happy looking! Maybe I'll try and keep mine a little drier this winter and see if I can get mine to bloom!

I have no idea as to what variety it is. I rescued it from a compost pile at school about three years ago.
I have a hard time believing that anyone would spend a good amount of money on a named variety just to toss it out for no reason. But im more than happy to have it no matter what that reason was . lol! I never really understood the big hooplah over this orchid. That is untill this one bloomed. It has a delicate and refined appearence. Truly ethereal ! Now that the sun is going down here in Minnesota, this precious gift has now developed the finest fragrance I have ever encountered! Wow! I get it!!!!:bowing Scott |
woo hoo! :wtg:
how do you have yours potted? I recently got a large neo, and I suppose I should repot it, just not sure what will work best for me. I have a small division mounted and that one is growing nicely. |
