HI

Today i went down to a homestead market, where there was a orchid stand and the vendor was selling beautiful orchids for 5-10 dollars. i bought this little guy and completly forgot to ask what type of orchid it was when i was asking about the care tips.

its a fairly small epiphytic orchid. about 6 inches across with spiky thick leaves. the blossoms are pink which in turn have violet pink flowers. any help identifying the species would be of great help.
ill post pics hopefully some has some idea of what it could be

thanks
:)

It's lovely! but I think it's a tillandsia - which is also an epiphyte. I'm not really familiar with their care but I found several web sites with care info doing a google search.
I bet some OB members grow these as well and may have care advice for you too :)

Yes, not an orchid, definitely a bromeliad. Tillandsia would also be my first guess for the genus, but that's the best I can do.

It is tilandsia, bromeliad. You really don't have to do anything to it except water. Now with all the rain we are getting, you don't have to do anything at all. They multiply like wabbits :)
