Repotting in coconut husks
 

I have just finished repotting a dendrobium orchid and I'm not sure if I have done it correctly. I'm used to repotting bonsai and pot plants where the new soil can, for lack of a better description, washed amongst the roots. But the large chunks of coconut husks are very difficult to get amongst the roots.

I have a few pieces amongst the roots and the rest just surround the roots. There is a large mass of roots surrounded by coconut husks. Is this ok or will I have to have another go at repotting it?

In my experience with dendrobiums, I find they need a smaller or finer mix. I suspect that you used a large CHC grade. A smaller one would have allowed you to mix it better around the roots.
