Pot. Richard Young 'Cariad's Colette' in bloom again.
 

She bloomed about a month ago just after being transferred from pot to mount. Two more blooms opened a few days ago. The buds just burst out from no where. If there were sheaths I never saw them. Close-up photos seem to reveal (but maybe not) very small sheaths. She prefers to not bloom from her other fully developed sheaths.

Something munched on one of her newest blooms just after it opened, so I hung a scary guest on the mount right above her.

I found out she is scented. Her lovely fragrance is released after dark and stays with her until around 11:00 a.m. :)

I don't think cobra's climb trees but the silly thing might fool rodents and birds. ;)

Thanks, Rosie. This is one of my peculiar acting chids. I haven't figured out why she won't bloom from big healthy sheaths.

junenug. Looking at the flower, I thought that there might be B nodosa in your plant's parentage. It is a first generation nodosa hybrid. That may help explain the tiny sheath blooming habit ... also the evening fragrance.

But why won't she bloom from the big sheaths???? She produces them, but they remain inactive and eventually dry up. I know she has the ability to bloom from big sheaths, because her first bloom, last year, developed that way. That's the only one though. :(

Thanks, John. This is a nice plant that has grown vigorously for me. Repotting her was a risky challenge due to her sprawling downward growth. Now that she's mounted she has room to ramble.
