My First True Species is a Phal equestris.

Though I came home from a show with four species, this was the first of the bunch

It's supposed to be of the alba variation, though I must admit in certain lights there is a definite Pinkish tinge (see picture 2 compared with 3). I don't care about that though, it's just so pretty!

It came with a new leaf growing, new roots and in spike and yesterday the first bloom started to open. There is also no sign of bud blast. So I'm really rather happy with this little fellow.

The plant looks great and the bloom too. This is such a fun Phal. Remember to leave the spikes on after flowering on this one. These are very well known for keiki production.

I've never seen this one before and it's totally on the list.

I love the shape of the bloom - it's so different for a phal. Pic #2 looks like a fleur de lei.

Just beautiful.

Great choice :bowing. If it has a tinge of color to it, it would be called albascens.

Looks great! You'll see, equestris quickly get addictive. It's my all time favorite phal and I've so far managed to collect 5 types. I want more!

These guys seem to be in near constant bloom, and even my keikis potted less than a year ago are throwing double spikes, and then produce keikis of their own. I love this phal

So right, Camille...they're like a mini-addiction within the larger one

Gorgeous Phal, great choice, I love these.

You can never go wrong with equestris in any of it's many variations. it's super easy to grow, and loves to be in bloom all the time. Camille is right. Soon you'll be on a quest to collect all the varieties. Good thing they are relatively small.

Oooh, beautiful!
You couldn't make a better choice: P. equestris is imho the easiest and the most generous species of Phalaenopsis.
Yours is the alba or semialba variety, therefore is a bit less strong than the standard type but you've no reason to be worried, it will give you thousands of satisfactions: tons of flowers and... KEIKIS :D :D
As Camille said, get ready to be an equestris addicted :lol:
