My Plant Is Sick?

Having a problem with my orchid. Not sure what is wrong. Here's a pic of what it originally looked like and a couple of what it looks like now. Help me please...

Your plant is very dehydrated - either not enough water or it was kept too wet and the roots rotted off. Considering how course the potting mix is I would guess it has been too dry for a long time. Phalaenopsis like pretty even moisture. Water heavily and let it drain, then water again as soon as the top of the potting mix is dry.
The dark spot could be sunburn, so maybe it is getting a little too much direct sunlight too, which can contribute to being too dry. The small plant forming on the old spike is called a keiki. This is fairly common with Phalaenopsis. Let it grow a couple more roots and then you can detach it and pot it up on its own - free new plant! |
Is there anything under the spot on that leaf? I have never seen a spot like that on mine, but PaphMadMan is correct about the dehydration of the leaves. Your plant needs a good soaking. There should be a number of aerial roots that appear, and they should be plump and green, with a silvery sheen and a green point. Your little keiki looks great and will make a nice new plant. Take care of it and be patient and it will eventually reward you with blooms.
