Book recommendation for a beginner.
Hello, I am new to growing Orchids and I'm looking for a good reference book, how to book on orchids, hopefuly one with pictures.
what would you all recommend? thanks |
Are you looking for a general one or a specific one?

Check this one out:
Understanding Orchids, William Cullina, Houghton Mifflin, 2004 |
Orchids for Dummies is a great resource and gives a basic overview. It was my first book and I still refer to it.
Miracle Grow Complete Guide to Orchids is also very good and a step above the Dummie book imo. I like this book probably the best for a general, fairly comprehensive overview on orchids. Both of those books are easy to find, priced reasonably, and give you good direction regarding cultivation, repotting, and pests. Once you get further into orchids (notice I did not say "if" ;)) you can look at some more expensive, detailed items for your library :twocents: |
thank you all so much for the help. I will be making to trip to Borders soon. :)

This is a really handy book which I use when I can't get online. It is specific to species, but has a lot of culture background general information and is a really easy read.
