Natures way!

This is a Epidendrum nocturnum we found in the Fakahatchee. We tapped the pod with a stick to get the shot. But cool just the same

Wow, that is very cool indeed! I would so love to see this famous place. Someday perhaps. Thanks for sharing the picture. :)

I have read of groups in other parts of the US (mid-west I think -- Ohio ?) going as far as hand pollinating the local endangered orchids, collecting seed pods, etc, etc to eventually years later replant seedlings.
Are there any efforts to 'assist' nature in the strand to increase the orchid populations ? Charlie |
very cool flhiker ...

Yes,Charile. I have read that a group named The Friends of the Fakahatchee where trying to add more Cyrtopodium punctatum. Which I have never seen within the strand. I don't know if they where successful.
Thank you Cheryl |
:wtg: That is a great shot, Dave! Perfect timing.
Very nice of you guys to help Mother Nature disperse those seeds. ;) |
Hooray for David Orchid-Seed! (our own personal Johnny Appleseed)
