Dendrobium parishii

I always love when this one blooms for me!
It is currently growing on a mount, but it has managed to grow on both sides, so now I have to hang it from a pot so the leaves don't get smashed... |
Great job! Those are beautiful!

Beautiful, nice growing! :bowingI really love all those dens with the fuzzy lip.

Really wonderful. I agree with Camille about the fuzzy lip.

You're parishii looks beautiful! A good friend sent me one last week. I know nothing about it so I'm interested in how you grow yours! Right now mine is potted with bark. Any other suggestions for me?
Thanx Katie :) |
Hi Katie,
Mine is mounted on tree fern. I grow it in fairly bright light and water as needed, which for me right now is daily. I give it a slight winter rest and it seems to spring back every spring! Oh and I fertilize weekly, or at least I should and I usually do at least 3 times a month... |
Wow, I just bought one of these, and didnt realize they were that beautiful. Thanks for your great photo's - it will make the wait all the more intoxicating.

Nice growing, Laura! As pretty as the flowers are on this species, I think I like the fragrance even better. The sweet raspberry scent is one of those that I just keep going back to smell over and over.
Curiously, I have a Dendrobium Nestor (anosmum x parishii) that just finished blooming a couple of weeks ago. A lot of these smell nice like both parents, but mine smells very strongly of burning hair! :gasp: Pretty nasty, my wife made me move it further away from our bedroom so she wouldn't have to 'experience' it in the morning! One of those times when I think she permanently lost a little more patience with my orchid habit... --Nat |
