Questions about roots
Bought a few orchids at one of the big box stores and one of them had two plants in one pot. I re-potted all of them because the medium was old. The one that had two plants in it one of them is doing great but the other one only had one good root left on it and it was only a 1in long if even that long. Is there any thing I can do to promote new roots quickly.
should i take it out of the moss and just put it in the bag or should i leave it in the pot. I was thinking about making a little green house for this one out of pvc pipe and clear plastic. |
when i got phals with bad roots from stores, i repot them in spag and put them in a big plastic bag, so it gets high humanity and warm. and i also use some superthrive for them!

You might also try some liquid seaweed. Seaweed can grow as much as a foot a day.

were would i get seaweed at and do you know how much it runs price wise

Did you cut the bloom spike off? It will help the plant concentrate on growing roots if it is not also supporting blooms.

I've never tried this, but I hear that diluted coconut milk will promote root growth (you can search the boards for coconut and there's a few different threads). I have used K-L-N, which is a root stimulant, there's also a product called Superthrive which is another root stimulant.
You can buy liquid seaweed at repotme.com, and amazon.com. Good luck! - J |
