I saw this picture on the internet but it didnt have a caption. does anyone know what kind of orchid this is?
I'm very surprised if this is an orchid at all, Kaity!
I found it on the epiweb website so i assumed it was an orchid....maybe i'm wrong
Sorta looks to me like something from the Pleuorothallid alliance. There are so many of them, though, that it's almost impossible to tell unless it's actually blooming.
Looks like some sort of pleurothallid orchid to me. Not really what I know best, but could possibly be a Lepanthes. The succulent leaves should narrow it down if someone who knows this group well sees it.
It looks to me like a Trichosalpinx and it most definitely is an orchid and most definitely something in the Pleurothallid Alliance.
Second the Trichosalpinx notion
Perhaps you could send an email to the website owner and ask them what it is?
It is a Lepanthes it at least that is how they identified it in this link http://www.epiweb.se/mm/stationery/A...anthes_sp2.jpg
look at the address bar in this link |
If the plant shown in the link is the same as the top photo, then it most definitely is a Lepanthes - the flower, though not very clear cannot be anything but a Lepanthes.
