Is this an Orchid?

Hi all,

Apologies if you've seen threads like this many times before, but was out walking in Hampshire UK last weekend and saw this growing in the middle of a field - I've tried identification through photography on the net and was referred over here for more expert help.

Does any one know if this is an orchid and if it is whats its full name...

It was growing in the middle of a field/meadow amongst many other wild flowers.... Ground wasn't overly moist, but wasn't dry either...

Please help...

Thank you...

Fantastic - Thanks John, the first picture in the link above looks almost exactly the same as the place that I took the picture... It looks so similar...

Cheers,
Toneski.

Cool, nice find! Thanks John for the links, I'm really glad to see more of our native orchids. I saw Dactylorhiza in the wild in Upper Teasdale during the summer but I wouldn't have realised how many the UK had.
