Intergeneric Hybrid Question
 

Thinking of creating intersting orchids, I thought I would try an intergeneric cross.
I crossed V. lamellata v. remediosae ( shown in the vanda section ) onto Phal. fasciata.
So far everything looks good, anyone with a guess on how long the pod should hang to have viable seed ????

I can't give any time guidance, but for "green pod" culture, I keep an eye on the ends of the capsule. When it shows any signs of the slightest yellowing, it's time to harvest and get it to the lab.

Don't mean to appear brain dead, here, but genetically crossing out of a major genus???? Does this work??? Or are the developing pods potentially going to be sterile????

There are few of these Vandaenopsis hybrids about and apart from seeing a few pics on the net, I have no idea if they breed on or not. Doesn't matter to me these days.

Thanks Ray. From the description of Phal pod holding times and the Phal being the pod parent, I'll use that as a guide and certainly remember your thoughts.

You reckon the progeny might look ok ????
