well it says orchid cactus, but doesn't look like that - likes like some type of Dendrobium ...
|
Looks like a Dendrobium to me.
Looks somewhat like my Den Polar Fire in shape and pattening, not sure on colour as it's difficult to tell in the pic. Here is a link to a pic of Den Polar Fire. Successful market launch: Dendrobium Polar Fire although even if it looks similar it might not be. There are a lot of Dendrobium hybrids which are not registered, so you could have one that just looks like something else. I don't even think Polar Fire is a registered hybrid, just a trade name for something. What I think is more certain is that it is a Dendrobium Hybrid which probably has a high influence from Dendrobium phalaenopsis (don't confuse this with a Phalaenopsis orchid which is something different). |
Doing a search it seems there is a cactus with the common name of 'Orchid Cactus'. If it were that then it would NOT be an orchid.
But yours does look like a Dendrobium Orchid, so I think the name 'Orchid Cactus' is wrong. |
Orchid Cactus is definitely wrong. Orchid cactus has tons more petals and sepals. This is most def an orchid, and most likely, as everyone else has said, a Dendrobium type.
