Another nice phal to my collection
Hi there Ob,
I popped into tesco's today and couldn't resist buying another phal. this is my forth now. This one had loads of aerial roots so i wet them and teased them into the pot, also gave it some orchid focus feed, i've had really good results with that. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...0520101223.jpg |
Very nice and healthy looking:drool:

Very pretty plant. nice plumy/orange colouration.
I'm not an expert, but i think aerial roots are supposed to stay out of the pot. If you put them into the bark medium they may rott. I think as they have developed to take moisture from the air that is their dedicated job. If you submerge them in medium the get/stay too moist and may die back. But if you have done this before and had no problems, then go for it. I'm sure others will chime in. Good luck with them! |
Hi Sammy,
The roots will be fine, i didn't push them into the bark i just twisted them around the other aerial roots in the top of the pot as there are loads of them. A couple of the really long aerial roots were snapped when i got it but most were fine. http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/t...0520101224.jpg |
