Shade Cloth Percentages- which is best?

I'm setting up a place to set my orchids for the summer :)
I've picked an area on the northeast side of the house- it will get direct sun mid-morning to early -mid afternoon. It's shaded by some trees east of the house and by the house itself in the afternoon. I know I will need to use shade cloth, but which percentage? Gardeners Supply Company lists a shade net that filters out 50%; and 3 levels of garden fabric that cut out 15% , 30%, 40%, respectively. It's shown being put directly over lettuce and such crops, but I would suspend it on poles over the orchids on a table. I have some burlap, too, but I was told on another thread that that would filter out too much.
I'm in northwestern Massachusetts- not sure of my zone.

What I would do is take a light meter reading at midday with a cloudless sky. From there decide what percentage the sun needs to be cut to get your maximum footcandles wanted.
