Suggestions for Humidifiers
 

I'm setting up my Southern window for my orchids and looking for a compact, 24 hour humidifier. I have looked at ultrasonic (no expensive filters) and cool mist but either they come in hideous colors that would make my window an eyesore or the reviews are terrible (leaks, loud, etc.). Does anyone have a SMALL, ALL WHITE humidifier you like? If so, please share. I'm going crazy. Thanks.

I discoverd this one at a small appliance store.

the brand is called a Air-o-Swiss
It was a little pricey. cost me around 70$ and i bought the display model. but it works wonderfully, and its got low to high settings, has a pretty blue light :D and its nice and compact! i put my hand by it to give you an idea of the size

Thanks for the pic. It looks like the Travel or Personal humidifier. How often do you need to fill it up in a day? Did the bottle come with it?

nope, any bottle with the typical small neck will work for it. Depending on how high you set it at, the small bottle i have there could last 1 1/2 - 2 days on low and 1/2 - 1 day on high

I had a larger air o Swiss was also pricey, lasted a year and died. Can't get parts. There is a place on line to get cleaner etc. It's a warehouse in NJ poor service and terrible delivery.
Have a Honeywell ultrasonic now, it's all white stands about 16 inches high holds three quarts and I fill it twice a day. It has lasted twice as long and cost 1/4 as much, got it at a big orange box store.

I've been using the kind of humidifiers they sell in drugstores- ultrasonic and coolmist. A family member gave me a used ultrasonic one, and it lasted about a year before dying this week. Our water is very hard, and I filtered it thru a Brita filter but eventually the calcium got to it anyway. I've bought a replacement for it. I filled it about every day and a half, and I expect the new one will require the same. I will clean it with vinegar more frequently, however.

I got a very compact wicking humidifier made by Vicks that works great for my bedroom/grow room.
This is the "warm mist" version- Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier - V-745A : Target
And the "cool mist" that I have- Vicks 1-gal. Cool Mist Humidifier - V-3100 : Target
I wouldn't say the mist is cool at all.
It's a good little appliance for a decent cost, as long as you don't mind the blue reservoir.
