Every once in a while, I like to stroll around in a store named Tuesday Morning. They often have some really cool orchid pots...cheap!
Stopped in yesterday and found two 8 inch tall pots with saucers...for $4.99! I did an online search for TVP Pottery (the maker) and they do have distributors in the U.S! This link shows you what they say is a 7" pot for $13.98 (which is what the Tuesday Morning's pots had as their origianl price). I measured mine and it's 8" tall and 6 1/2" across and it's nice and heavy  MD CHINA - 7" Oyster Orchid Pot If you have a Tuesday Morning near you, go take a look...it's the kind of place that doesn't always have the same stuff...hit and miss :goodluck: The Cym in this picture is Cym Seaside which I got at June's Orchid Estate :cloud9: |

You might not have been a member when we were all on a search mission for a tall orchid pot. It was an ongoing discussion for a long time...and I got very excited when I saw them! (/udb)

Um.....I have two terra cotta pots about that size (mayyyybe just a little smaller, no more than an inch smaller) that are the same shape/height. Have one hole in the bottom, no other slots.
If someone wants to pay shipping, I'd be happy to send them. ETA: I lied, after second glance, the ones I have are maybe 2/3 to 3/5ths that size. But still same proportions. Awesome plant stand btw! |
Thanks :)
Funny story behind that stand...a few years ago, a mutual friend of mine and Linda R was downsizing her collection and she was kind enough to offer many great plants to the both of us. When we got to the candy store..no, no, I mean to Trudy's house :) we were awed. She gave us both a LOT of really nice chids and then threw this stand into the mix...but there was only one stand and two of us so we tossed a coin  Linda won :) After a year or two of it sitting at her house and it not being used, she gave it to me...took two years but it's mine  It even got varnished at her house! Thanks Capt Larry :D  |
Thank you
Been hunting for two cymbidium pots forever. Not plastic but a nice ceramic to drop the orchids in (in their plastic homes). Your's look great, thanks. I'll try to locate them on the web. No "Tuesday" whatever here in NorCal.

I was actually thinking about taking a ceramics class just so I could make and glaze my own orchid pots. However, time doesn't really permit for this endeavor. Not a whole lot of room for electives in the semesters to come. :)

Yup, I know the feeling, Carl
A few months back, laura caught part of an episode of martha Stewart's TV show and it happened to be a piece on making your own pots...it was an odd mix of cement, perlite and something else :scratchhead: and she called me right away. http://www.marthastewart.com/article/hypertufa-pots  "yay! let's do this one day!!!"...and we're both still waiting for "one day" to come :( Now that I'm writing this I think I might have an orchid pot making session when the girls are here on Saturday...after we get back from the sale at Louis DelFavero's place!
