I' ve had this one for a couple years, one of the few Dendrobiums that continue to bloom from the same old stalks. I also have a couple of it's hybrids. They are all wonderful, and they smell just like chocolate.

That's really gorgeous. I love the gentle curve of flowers in the second pic.

I just got this orchid today and I would like to know how best to care for it. Light, water, food, etc. thanks!

Mine is highly budded up, any day now! I grow mine in medium bark and clay pot. I give it east/south light and water maybe 2x a week. It summers outside in bright shade.

Thank you!

Thats kinda funny, I have a Nora Tokunaga in bloom (like 6 months now) that has a heavy vanilla fragrance to it. Its atroviolaceum x rhodostictum :twocents:

I guess this orchid is now called Den normanbyense? Anyways, I realize this was an old post, but I was very interested by the comment about the flowers smelling like chocolate. I have a normanbyense and the flowers are not fragrant, but I do have a hybrid Den Little Andre that has some normabyense parentage and the flowers have a chocolate fragrance. I've never seen anyone post about Little Andre having any fragrance, but now I know I am not imagining it.
