Hydoponic setup for encyclia and brassocattleya?

I recently bought a Encyclia bractescens and Bc. Hoku Gem at an orchid show and I wanted to build a tank for them, when my dad showed me this setup for them: http://www.windowfarms.org/. What do you guys think? Would it work better than/as well as a tank?

The link is having issues.

Have you checked out the semi-hydroponics forum? There might more inspiration there.

Oh, I didn't notice that forum... After looking though it hasn't helped me much with whether the plants will do well. The setup is basically chains of waterbottles with a pump that constantly adds small amounts of water to the first bottle, which trickles down to the next and so on. The backs of the bottles are open for ventilation.

that's a really cool design

It is way to wet for the Encyclia. They like to grow very dry between waterings,Especially for a miniature like bractescens.

The Hoku Gem may be all right, but with orchids I prefer to allow the hydroponic rock to whisk the water up from the bottom. Then the hydroponic is limited to 8% moisture, whereas the drip system can be higher.
