These past few days has been pretty rough for me.

So to offset all the craziness, my Cypripedium plectrochilum decided to go into full bloom today. :)

This is a wonderful little miniature Cypripedium sure to be able to fit into anyone's collection.

I love this little cutie!

Very sweet! How big is it?

King_of_orchid_growing:) 03-15-2010 07:43 PM

The entire height of the plant is about 11 cm tall.

OH MY GOD!!! :1stplace: :goodjob

That is awesome! If I could just get my hands on one of those...I've seen tons of photos of this species, but I've never even seen it in person. Pretty rare up here.

Thanks for sharing!

:) it certainly has a lot of character.

Interesting lil thing -- such an odd pointy "chin". Too bad I don't see it doing well indoors.

Typically when Cyps are grown in pots they are kept outside during the summer and either sunk in the grown or put in the fridge for the winter. When putting them outside is not possible, they can be grown indoors provided they get ample light and are kept away from heat sources.

All right guys. Here's the deal. I want to make a selfing of this.

However...

I want to make outcrosses eventually. So if anyone is interested in swapping pollinia of this species when they're able to get a hold of it, I'm 100% game for it.

Or...

If anyone else out there has this plant right now, the same interest in swapping pollinia applies.

Of course, then I'd have to figure out how to successfully germinate the seeds... :hmm

Ummm...

Nevermind I retract the offer.

I just pollinated this guy and realized the pollinia are absolutely tiny and are not anything like those of epiphytical orchids.

I can't figure out a way to transport them.

:dumb: :oops_sign
