Cattleya question

when does catts start producing pseudobulbs? this may sound silly, but I am not sure what a pseudobulb looks like on a catt, does anyone have a clear picture of what I should look for?

Pseudobulbs, a bit confusingly, aren't always bulb-shaped. On many Catts (such as yours), the pseudobulbs are elongated and cane-like. In your picture, each of the structures your plant has above the potting media would be considered a pseudobulb. (I counted 4 or 5 in your photo). The new lead that you provided the close-up of will eventually become another pseudobulb once it has gotten bigger and produced leaves.

Hey WhiteRabiit, what type of growing media is that in those pics, I haven't seen something like that.

The bulbs are the things where the leaf or leaves come out of. Just follow the leaf/leaves to it, and the thing they're attached to is the bulb.
