Yes, that certainly is a beautiful bloom. Are the flowers of this species fragrant?

Hi Steve,

I tried smelling the bloom when it first opened and I couldn't detect any noticeable fragrance...unlike some of the other Lycastes and Anguloas I have.

Interesting that it doesn't have a scent. I have a hybrid of macrophylla and aromatica that's producing one bud right now. I think I like the coloring of macrophylla better than aromatica; however, I'm really hoping that aromatica's scent is passed on. Does your macrophylla drop its leaves in the fall, or do they persist for more than a growing season?

my cross of this blasted on me....good job! And I love the bloom too

This one seems to be keeping its leaves rather than dropping them. They've been nice and green straight through the winter. I've actually selfed the first flower and the pod is forming nicely...hopefully I'll have some flasks going the same time next year.

That would be great to reproduce this one. Good luck!
