Light for a vanda

Hello all,

I recently moved my V. Sansai blue from a pot to a vase, and am trying to bring it back to its earlier vitality. It was at a west-facing window, but due to overcrowding I've moved it to a nearby desk. Right now it is sitting under a desk lamp with a 13 watt 'PL' type twin-tube bulb (six inches from light to highest leaf tip).

Is this a suitable amount of light? If not, is there a more suitable bulb that will fit my desk lamp? The label states that I can't go above 13 watts.

Thanks in advance!

What became of this vanda?

It's still around but I've upgraded the light system to a pair of Sunblaster bulbs. Seems to be doing well; leaf growth is tepid but the roots are growing like nobody's business. It had some root rot earlier this year and I had to cut some off so I'm not expecting a spike for a while (plus it has a bend in the top so flowering is going to be awkward when it does happen).

Sounds good, glad it's all working out. Don't worry about the bend it just adds character ;)
