black ball clumps on roots?
While re-potting my Sedirea japonica today, I notices a couple clumps of blackish brown balls attached to the roots. I was re-potting because It hasn't grown any new roots that I could see in a year. Although it is growing a new leaf and flowered twice last summer. I wiped off the tiny ball clusters.
Has anyone seen this before? Are they eggs of fungus maybe? Any advice would be appreciated. Here's some pictures of the roots and the blackish balls. Might be slow release fertilizers.
Too big for fungal spores. And fungi don't lay eggs. :) They'll start growing new roots in a couple months. No worries. |
Thanks,
I hadn't thought about fertilizer pellets, but it could be. I don't think I've re-potted since I purchased it last spring. Thanks for the encouragement. |
yes, looks like fert pellets to me too....king has it right, no worries....
