Miltoniopsis doing something new at last... is it a new lead growth?

Well my first Miltoniopsis had bad roots from the start and has done nothing but shrivel in the 8 months I've had it (still alive though).

My second attempt has great roots but was still not really doing anything... until now.

What is it... I'm guessing a new lead growth but I'm not sure... what do you guys think :hmm

I'm so excited that it's actually doing something.

That's definitely a new growth. They also start from in between the leaves.

i have one chid doing this to, and yes its new growth

Cool :cheer:

I really hope I can keep this guy happy.

I was hoping to repot this orchid as it's still in the medium it came in. I had it out the pot early on and the roots are a real mass which will be difficult to get in to (see pic below).

Is there a good time to repot. I'm expecting I will get new roots as the new growth gets bigger (is that usual... it's what my mounted Miltonia did). Is it good to repot at that point, or now, or wait till later :hmm

Good luck with the plant, Rosie. I find this genus really hard - it looks like you are doing something right :)

Great growing :cheer:

Thanks Hedge

I believe the general rule of thumb is to repot when new growth begins

But hopefully someone more experienced can be more exact

Hi Rosie.
You must be chuffed. Good Luck. We will have to have follow up piccy's.

good job Rosie!
I have never had a problem repotting these, or any of my onc alliance plants, at any time. Doesn't seem to ruffle them at all. I suppose the ideal time is when there is new growth.

Congrats Rosie! :D
I'd repot soon as possible, my experience with new leads are the bigger they get, the more pleating of the leaves will likely happen. So the sooner, the better :)
