Phrag - Scarlet OHara will it ever DO anything?
I was told this plant is flowering size when I bought it, but its been about 3 weeks and it doesn't look like its changed at all. Are these phrags slow growing or is it just not going to do anything because I don't have it in the proper conditions. Its getting morning sun & bright indirect afternoon sun. I have had trouble with humidity, the most I have ever been able to get is 30%. It is getting watered every other day and is standing in a pebble tray with water.
any thoughts? m |
I bought a BS Phrag Andean Fire...a year later it has finally spiked. Give it time....3 weeks is just a blink in time to an orchid. Many vendors sell orchids as BS but in reality, it often takes them a year to settle into the new environment and start blooming.

From what I've been told, BS means that it should flower withing that growing season(12 months). NBS; within 12 to 18 months.

Yeah, I second all these replies. I have some that were "blooming size" that took over a year to bloom. Just have patience.

Let the plant adjust to your environment, it will soon reward you. Most likely it will bloom later, probably in the summer

Patience. I've had a few Phrags that are blooming sized....1 was even blooming when I got it.....sadly it has not rebloomed and it has been more than a year.
I'm still trying tho! |
