Latest Phal blooms
8 Attachment(s)
I've got about 15 Phals spiking (2 double spikers) and very slowly, this year. I've got about 70-75 Phals with no spikes at all and I'm sure it's because of my experimenting with KeikiPro. (Some keikis that started growing in Sept. have still not grown roots.)
Anyway, here's what blooming in my little part of the world. |
What a lovely group you have.

My Phals are behaving the same way. I didn't use Keiki Pro, but I live in Florida too. Out of 11 Phals only 7 have spikes. Only two of the 7 have nice long spikes that should be blooming in the near future. The other 5 have either very short spikes or spikes that are just emerging. Usually all of them are in bloom by mid-February or early March. I suspect the climate might be to blame due to the unseasonably warm weather we had towards the end of the year. My Dens. are acting weird too. Some of them were spiking in November instead of waiting for March or April like they usually do. Now that the weather has changed (gotten cooler) they're blasting their buds. :( |
dounoharm, I'm certain the KeikiPro was the reason why a lot of my Phals didn't spike. They were too busy growing keikis on the old spikes. I got tons of keikis from this product and while I have no regrets using it, I'll be much more discriminating when using it next time, or maybe I won't...I'll have to see how bored I get after this blooming season is done.
Have a look at this thread I posted a while back with some of the results from the solution: http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ason-ever.html Junebug, I believe you're right. I'm almost willing to bet it was because of the intense heat we had here in Fla. up through November. 7 out of 11 is much better than my odds! We're not alone either. A lot of other members have mentioned the late spiking, blooming their getting also. Thanks everyone for your coments! :waving |

After observing my potted Phals lack of progress I decided to leave them outside when the night time temperatures were dipping into the low 40's/high 30's. Their potting media was left dry and within a few days more began spiking. This was before our 2 week freeze. All the chids were brought indoors during that period of time, which I assume only added to their confusion. |
Lovely collection, Sandy! Nice growing. Does #3 happen to be Baldan's Kaleidoscope?
