brassavola nodosa
I have had this a few months maybe longer the mind is not as sharp as it used to be well anyways. I have noticed over time it seems like the leafs if you want to call them that kind of rot off at the bottom of the plant. I have a picture that will show it better then i can explain it. When I got it it was in a basket with just sphagnum moss I left it in it thinking it was ok. I have taken if out and put it in orchid mix with coconut husk hoping that will stop. Has anyone else had this problem am I doing right to correct this problem?? What else can I do. Here is the picture of one of the stems. The yellowish end is the bottom.

Can you show a picture o the rest of the plant? That is a leaf.

One reason your leaves are rotting off is that the rhyzome needs to be on top of the medium not buried underneath. Also your Cattleyas need to be potted the same way. Only the roots go into the medium.

yes, the rhysome should be level with the medium not burried underneath....that will surely cause rot and the leaves will fall off like the one you displayed earlier....pull the plant up out of the medium right away, and let it 'ride' the top of the bark.....the rhysome is that rootlike structure that the leaves grow out of....
