rastafouni or pheli - what is the best way to grow this: basket or a cork slab? It appears to be a plant that will become rather tall!
Thanks for any tips - Nancy

Hi Nancy,

for myself I grow this specie mounted. The canes are long and the plants are getting quite massive after a few years because many new growth come each seasons.

I grow it with a half rest regime (one month dry during december and then slight watering) but I know other people in Thailand who grow it succesfully without rest.

In Thailand, the flowering season is from January to March. It is not a difficult Dendrobium to grow and, in my opinion, a wonderful specie especially if you get the variety with the two maroons blotches.

My plant mounted :

Thanks Philippe - your plant looks very happy on the mount; are the leaves deciduous each year, or after a few years? I believe I have read that the flowers appear towards the ends of the canes - will it be on the leafless ones?
Have also read that the flowers are scentless but last several weeks - the bad with the good!
Regards - Nancy

I grow it in a hot environment but it is said that this specie is very tolerant about temperatures : to cool to hot...
