First blooming on my very first anceps! I am thrilled. Lovely color. The spike on this baby was nearly 4.5 ft long! Is that normal?

I don't know of a spike that size is normal, but she sure is a beauty Scott! Thanks for sharing!

Well done! For anceps, I have heard that some cultivars get longer. The only one I have is veitchiana 'Fort Caroline' and it's flowering last year it was between 2 to 3 feet long.

Beautiful flower! L. anceps are known for their long spikes -- which is why I have never considered owning one. :)

Gorgeous!! yes, it's normal. Anceps species and hybrids gift you with fantastically long spikes. :)
