Hi everyone,
I'm dying down here, and so are my babies :bua: In the last week, they are ALL turning yellow!! Brown, Holes, etc.... What is causing this? And what can I do??? :_( |
Wow I'm so sorry! How sad to see! I'm of no help...maybe the cold got to them?
|
so sorry!!! it looks like cold damage to me....were they outside during the cold spell? so so very sorry!
|
hey jkelee~~! i'm so glad you asked, because i have a few NOIDS that are looking similar to yours. during Christmas and New Year's, south Louisiana had night temps in the low 20's. the temp in my quite airy greenhouse got as low as 32.
prior to all that, these recovering phals looked pretty dang good for a newbie! (recovering from being potted in Miracle Gro orchid mix and overwatering during the summer.) now some of the leaves are looking like yours and i don't know whether to be rid of them or try to get them back in shape. the ones i mounted are ok (thank you, king of orchid, if you see this..) anyway, i'll be interested to see feedback too!:) |
I does look like cold damge to me also. I have froze a good share in the past as well.
|
trydl--;)will they recover??? i checked the roots on one, which has one leaf left, and it seems to be ok....;)
|
If it did not freeze too bad. If you still have green roots and leaves it should recover. Or if you have no leaves and green roots it might recover.
|
just checked the roots--all but one plant are doing well! thank you for your input--I appreciate:)!

Hello.
It did freeze down here for about 10 days in a row or so. BUT, I had the Chid Hotel covered up, and wrapped tight. And heaters in there. The temp showed that it never got down below 49, with the heaters racing of course. I can't believe this is cold damage. As the other hundreds of chids, all kinds are not damaged at all. Just MOST of my Phals... Anyone else out here have any ideas? Or what I can do, or use to fix it?? :( |
Looks like the cold got em!
Definit temp change damage. The may have got too warm with the heaters. You may have to remove the leaves and hope the plants slowly recover once our humidity returns to ugly normal.
