Mounting an Orchid- how do you do it and water it once its established?
i was just considering doing so. and i have no idea how

It seems pretty simple. I haven't attempted it yet, still waiting to get a cattleya for that, but a decent book that demonstrates the process is the Complete guide to Orchids by Ortho Books.

You can also do a search here on the Orchid Board, there are a lot of posts about mounting orchids.

I have a brassovola nodosa "Lady of the Night" that has been mounted for 15 years. It was already mounted (just tied with wire to a small slab of bark) when we purchased it. It outgrew it's mount about 9 years ago and I just wired the mount to a larger piece of bark. Had to sacrafice some of the growth on the back of the mount. The bark was from a dead maple in my woods. It was in a greenhouse for most of it's life and I just slopped on water with weak fertalizer every time I watered. Now we have moved and it has to live inside. It hangs in a sheltered south window and I water it every 5 to 7 days by filling the sink with water and soaking it for about 20 minutes. While it is draining I pour on my weak fertalizer. It spends the summer under a pergola. It seems to be very happy. It had at least 50 flowers in December. :)
