Do I still need a humidifier …?
Hi there I read the forums just about every night but I have never posted.. So thanks for the great info. I was looking into buying a Humidifier to help out my Orchids. I’m only around 25% to 30 % in the room that I have them in. They sit above water trays and I mist every morning. I have a mix of Phals, Onc, and Dendrobiums. All of my phals, Have flowers or spikes. And one Onc. is in bloom. They seem very happy should I still raise humidity… ? Thanks..

I have about the same levels and am getting really good growth ...catts are young yet and may take a year or to to bloom for me yet...
If you are getting spikes and good blooms you have provided what they needed ...You may get better bloom or more buds with more ...but sounds like your doing ok to me |
If it ain't broke, don't fix it! lol
I live in a pretty dry climate - especially in summer where day time humidity is rarely even 30%, and it isn't unusual to have humidity in the teens or even single digits. Night time humidity is higher, but in summer that can be only 40 - 50%. Winter humidity is higher but still daytime less than 50% usually, tho nights can be near 100% I do not do anything special to increase humidity with exception of a few vandaceous types which get a spritz of water early in the day. For plants which don't want to dry out I do frequently add small amounts of water with a spray bottle to keep them moist in-between regular watering. In the summer that can be every day or two. Less this time of year. It sounds as tho your orchids are doing well, so don't think there's a need to change things. |
I was thinking the same. They seem happy so I won't change anything right now.. Thanks

I think you can leave things be. But extra humidity would help them flourish better. I think you would see an increase in your growth and spikes/blooms down the road.
