Cattleya mooreana

This is a rare Peruvian Cattleya species, very hard to find available here in Brazil. Cultivation is not easy too, at least under my condition, but I've been growing mine with relative success. The flowers have the petals projected forward and remind a little those of C. luteola, but the plant can be much higher than the latter. C. mooreana in good health can be as tall as C. iricolor.
In its native Peru, apparently, the habitats have been completely stripped.

I am not familiar with this one. I'm glad that you are able to be a part of the preservation of this species. Great growing!

It's beautiful, Mauro. Why is it hard to grow in your conditions?

Great blooms! Sad that its habit in Peru has been stripped! Thank you for your effort to preserve it and for showing this beauty to us!!

Steve, the species likes intermediate temps the year round and high air humidity. I have very dry and cold winters (air humidity often drops to 20%, sometimes less, during the cold months) and hot summers and it seems to me that the species metabolism suffers a little with these variations.
