Lc Jungle Eyes 'Golden Leopard'
2 Attachment(s)
Sometimes it's very difficult to come up with a suitable name for registering a new hybrid. Coming up with this name was somewhat easier and seemed very suitable.
Lc Jungle Elf x C aclandiae (with very dark spots) produced offspring with lots of yellowish flowers with dark reddish purple spots. The "Jungle" from Jungle Elf plus the "Eyes" from the eye sound of aclandiae seemed a natural. "Jungle Eyes" also had a mysterious sound to it ... even though jungle eyes are usually yellow in the dark, instead of dark on a yellow field. Photo 1 is Lc Jungle Eyes 'Golden Leopard.' Photo 2 is 'Wild Tiger' |
Both are gorgeous.

It's orchids like these that make me love the hobby. These are simply beautiful. Great growing!!!

Thank you for sharing these interesting hybrids. One looks more wild and the other one like the work of a late Italian designer. Yes, the clever name adds to its appeal.

Both are beautiful and their names suit them.

Catwalker,
I see this is a hybrid registered and originated by H & R Nurseries in Hawaii. Are you in Hawaii also ? They have a great looking website !! It's only the 4th of January and can't wait for spring / warmer temps to arrive to make shipping possible. What is the size of this hybrid ? I am having some success growing and flowering the smaller catt hybrids (12" - 14"). The larger catts are still a challenge, a big challenge. Charlie |

We are H&R. Lc Jungle Eyes is a true mini. Plants begin blooming when only about 4" tall. Plants will grow outward & form clusters, with many individual growths less than 6" tall. Plants require bright light & prefer temps ranging from 60-85 F. They can easily tolerate low 50's as long as they do not have wet feet & 90's if well watered & shaded. As clustered growth develops, plants can bloom simultaneously from several canes. Plants prefer very loose airy root conditions under which they can be watered frequently. Not all Lc Jungle Elf varieties are good breeding parents. We are fortunate to have a good breeding plant. Besides breeding, naming & registering Lc Jungle Eyes, we have also bred and registered other successful Jungle Elf hybrids, such as: Slc Jungle Beau (Sc Beaufort x Lc Jungle Elf); Slc Jungle Jewel (Tangerine Jewel x Lc Jungle Elf); Slc Jungle Gem (Precious Stones x Lc Jungle Elf). They are all miniature cats. I believe these are all our crosses, if my memory is still intact. The website does not have a shopping cart option at this time. It is difficult to do because it has over 300 photos and several hundred items offered (including many species or new hybrids which experience name changes when we register them). |

Thanks for the additional information. I have previously purchased (as a group with other OB members) catt plugs / seedlings from a nursery. Do you grow your catts in plug trays and offer them at that size ?? I have had good success growing plugs. Also, I see " “CP” = Community Pot (normally 15 -20 plants) " listed. For example: 20856 Catylaelia Banana Split (Lc. Pixie x Ency. cordigera) CP - 20.00 Photo 60 attractive yellows, red lip. Nice fragrance. Very compact. or 20775 Pot. Goldernell x Burana Beauty. CP - 20.00. Can you describe any further or provide a photo ?? Thanks again. Shivering in North Carolina -- planning for spring :) Charlie |
Cabnc. Sorry, it's not appropriate to conduct business in this section of the forum. I will send you a personal message for reference.
